A while ago (like, a few weeks? I'm not sure), I started talking to old high school friends about doing a movie project during summer 2009. The idea was universally approved (and left me wondering why, exactly, we never got around to doing one last summer, but hey, better late than never).
There are, of course, a number of ideas to to work with. Today I shall be presenting the foremost idea, entitled "Coming This Summer", or CTS for short.
I once heard about a professional movie they were making called "Trailer Trash", and the whole thing was just a bunch of fake trailers for fake movies. (So you get like 45 minutes into it and you're like "When is the freakin' movie gonna start?!?"). I haven't heard anything new about this movie, so perhaps it has been canceled, but it's a great concept.
CTS will be a mash-up of fake trailers for fake movies, perhaps including a barebones plot to thread it all together (i.e. us, sitting around, pitching ideas for our latest film project). I think this is a great way to visit 101 random concepts without ever having to commit. It's very flexible, too; any scene can be cut without affecting the others. I've already got a bunch of funny ideas (Let's make fun of franchises with "Spider-Man Negative-One", or whatever. Also every participant should have a "biography" movie, exaggerated to ridiculous effect. Also, we really need to parody "Quantum of Solace" with a new James Bond film entitled "Quantum of Physics", just because that title is so weird. And a trailer for Covert Classmates 2, whether or not we actually make CC2. And other stuff, etc.)
I want everyone to start brainstorming funny ideas. I plan to have a lot of fun with this, and I'm honored that you all want to participate.
